A 10-year-old girl was killed outside her Florida home after being struck in the head by a stray bullet believed to have been fired in celebration of the New Year. Yanelis Munguia was ringing in the New Year with her family when she was hit by the stray bullet around 12:04 a.m. on Wednesday. The child immediately collapsed to the ground outside her family’s home. Yanelis was pronounced dead at a hospital. Miami-Dade police have now announced a $5,000 reward for information on the still-unknown shooter. ‘We speak time and time again every New Year about the fact that what goes up must come down,’ a detective told CBS News. ‘This is a prime example of the dangers of shooting a firearm indiscriminately into the air. We have a 10-year-old girl who lost her life at the beginning of the year.’
